Silver strips are incorporated into the Air Wave Silver Fresh mattress cover. This inhibits the growth of bacteria and fungi and thus the formation of odors. Silver ions are currently the most effective means of combating bacteria and odors. They attach themselves to the fibers and do their job there without causing allergic reactions and without losing their function over time. Silver ions are used as a disinfectant and as a therapeutic agent in wound treatment. They can reversibly inhibit silver-sensitive pathogens after a relatively long exposure time and also have a bacteriostatic or even bactericidal (killing) effect. The lyocell content also ensures perfect moisture management. The optimal moisture transport of Lyocell is unique compared to synthetic fibers. Compared to cotton, Lyocell can absorb moisture in a controlled and even manner. In addition, Lyocell absorbs 50% more moisture than cotton.
Perfect moisture management also prevents mites from multiplying unhindered in the bed. Studies in a mattress (polyurethane foam with integrated Lyocell powder) have shown that the majority of an applied mite population dies off. With a conventional product, on the other hand, the mite population increases 17-fold within 6 weeks. The moisture management of Lyocell drastically reduces the mite concentration. Lyocell buffers the moisture and the mites die off. This is why this upholstery fabric is particularly recommended for house dust and animal hair allergy sufferers. The pleasantly soft, voluminous stretch quality is particularly elastic, hard-wearing and very dimensionally stable.
