Perfect moisture management. The optimal moisture transport of Lyocell is unique compared to synthetic fibers. The function of Lyocell supports this natural fiber property. This results in an optimum skin climate. Synthetic fibers cannot absorb moisture into the fiber interior.
In contrast to cotton, Lyocell can absorb moisture in a controlled and even manner. Lyocell also absorbs 50% more moisture than cotton. Polyester, on the other hand, cannot absorb moisture. Lyocell can absorb up to 50% moisture without the CoolAndDry mattress cover feeling wet and thus supports restful sleep.
The skin is the largest respiratory organ in the human body. It protects us, regulates our body temperature and keeps our water balance in equilibrium. Lyocell in the CoolAndDry mattress cover supports these functions and acts like a second skin.
Subjective well-being also depends heavily on the surface structure of the fibers. Rough fibers in particular can cause skin irritation. Lyocell, on the other hand, has an exceptionally smooth surface and guarantees a soft caressing feeling on the skin. The reason for the fine fiber surface is the low fiber stiffness. This makes the CoolAndDry mattress cover feel smooth and cool.
Microorganisms cannot find a habitat here. The perfect moisture management also prevents mites from multiplying unhindered in the bed. Tests in a mattress (polyurethane foam with integrated Lyocell powder) have shown that the majority of an applied mite population dies off. With a conventional product, on the other hand, the mite population increases 17-fold within 6 weeks. The moisture management of Lyocell drastically reduces the mite concentration. Lyocell buffers the moisture and the mites die off. This mattress cover is therefore particularly recommended for people with house dust and animal hair allergies.
The environmental aspect is not neglected either: eucalyptus wood from sustainable forestry is used for the production of Lyocell. The land used for cultivation cannot be used for other agricultural purposes. Cotton, on the other hand, requires agricultural land and therefore competes with the cultivation of food crops. Furthermore, the yield per unit area of Lyocell is on average 6 times higher than that of cotton. Furthermore, cotton requires 10-20 times more water than lyocell.
Mattress covers made from CoolAndDry are not quilted, but the filling is woven in using a special weaving technique. This means that the unquilted mattress cover is actually washable and, above all, easy to reupholster.
