The therapy basin was developed especially for Huntington's chorea patients. Huntington's chorea major (Huntington's disease), also known as Huntington's chorea (older name: St. Vitus' dance), is a hereditary disease of the brain that is still incurable.
In the course of the disease, which begins with restlessness, this restlessness increases to violent choreatic hyperkinesia. These are sudden involuntary movements of various muscles, which interrupt the voluntary movements. Increasingly, however, the muscle movements get out of control. In the full-blown disease, sudden grimacing and slingshot movements (ballismus) of the arms and legs occur. To prevent patients from injuring themselves during sleep, this therapy basin, which is made entirely of foam, was developed. The foot part is removable to make it easier for the patient to get in and out.
With internal dimensions of 200 x 160 x 40 cm (outside 240 x 200 x 50 cm), one person can easily fit in it, not roll out and still be able to look over it. The 20 cm wide bridge is stable and high enough to prevent the patient from accidentally rolling out, yet soft enough to prevent injury. Since each therapy basin is custom made, other sizes can also be manufactured.
The therapy basin is covered all around with our mattress full protection cover. It is removable thanks to zippers. In addition, the mattress cover is flame retardant, bi-elastic, washable up to 95°C, suitable for tumble drying, resistant to dry cleaning, resistant to disinfectants, resistant to MRSA bacteria, waterproof and breathable.
